Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 17, 2026

This page is a draft. Text in [brackets] is a placeholder and the policy must be reviewed by counsel before launch.

This policy explains how [Company name] ("we", "us") collects, uses, stores and deletes your information when you use the Shuke app and this website.

1. Information we collect

  • Account information: the anonymous identifier provided by Sign in with Apple, and the email address you choose to share (which may be an Apple private relay address).
  • Practice recordings: recording starts only after you explicitly tap the record button, and a recording indicator stays visible the whole time.
  • Transcripts, assessments and feedback generated from your recordings.
  • What you tell us during onboarding: your goal, scenarios, self-assessed level, interface and practice languages, weekly plan and reminder time.
  • Subscription status: transaction records provided by Apple. We never see your payment card details.
  • Anonymised usage statistics, such as which step you completed and how long it took. These never include recordings, transcripts or any practice content.
  • Website waitlist: the email address you submit, when you submitted it, and the language of the page you used (so we can send the launch email in that language). This website uses no cookies and loads no third-party analytics scripts.

2. Microphone access

The app uses the microphone only when you explicitly tap the record button. Before the first recording we explain why we need it, and only then show the system permission prompt. You can turn microphone access off at any time in iPhone Settings; you won't be able to record, but you can still read articles.

3. Third-party AI processing

To transcribe your recordings, assess how you spoke and generate example read-alouds, we send recordings or transcripts to third-party AI providers for speech recognition (ASR), assessment (large language models) and text-to-speech (TTS).

Providers may process this data only to provide these services to us. Your recordings and transcripts are never used to train any AI model. Current providers: [provider list].

4. How long we keep data

  • Recordings: 30 days by default. You can choose 7, 30 or 365 days in Settings; recordings are deleted automatically when the period ends.
  • Transcripts and assessments: until you delete the session or your account.
  • Waitlist email and language: until the launch email is sent or you ask us to delete them.

5. Deleting your data

In the app you can delete a single session, all practice data, or your account. Deletion cascades to the related recordings, transcripts, assessments and records, and is completed across all systems, including backups, within 30 days.

You can also email [Contact email] to remove your waitlist email or any other data.

6. Minimum age

The service is intended for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if we learn that we have, we delete it promptly.

7. Storage and security

Data is stored with cloud providers in [data region] and encrypted in transit. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect it, but no system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

8. Your rights

You can access, correct, export and delete your personal information, and withdraw consent, through the app's Settings or by contacting us.

9. Changes and contact

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll let you know in the app.
